Belleville council is expected to hold some interesting discussion at a special meeting this afternoon (Monday).
The subject will be area rating and the taxes imposed for police and fire services in the urban and rural parts of the city.
Rural ratepayers pay less for the services than do urban residents, but new development is blurring the lines of urban and rural, especially in the north section of Belleville.
The special meeting will be held at 2 o’clock at city hall.
The regular meeting of council, featuring a light agenda, follows at 4 o’clock.
