45 young football players in grades 6 to 9 took part in a Belleville Minor Football League pre season camp at the Loyalist Sports Dome on Saturday.
The camp was sponsored by the “No Limits Youth Organization” and doubled as a fund raiser to assist Belleville’s Derek Wendel as he trains for professional football tryouts.
Wendel has just completed his fifth season as quarterback of the Ottawa U Gee Gees where he established a number of Canadian University records. Wendel was runner-up for the Hec Crighton Trophy as the most valuable player in Canadian University football. He was on hand for the camp.
Wendel was presented with a cheque for $1000 by Peter and Brenda Gabriel who are the founders of the “No Limits Youth Organization.
