The Mayor of Belleville wonders why provincial government infrastructure cash isn’t coming to the city.
Mayor Taso Christopher joked at a recent Police Board meeting that perhaps the provincial Liberal government was punishing local MPP, Progressive Conservative Todd Smith, for hounding it about high hydro rates.
A check of the “Build Ontario” infrastructure funding map shows that so far no money has been allocated for projects in MPP Smith’s Hastings-Prince Edward riding.
The Liberals promised $160 billion in infrastructure spending over 12 years.

The “Build Ontario” infrastructure map shows a few projects in PC and NDP ridings, but the vast majority of the funding is going to Liberal-held areas. Several projects have been financed in Kingston, a Liberal seat and even more in the Ottawa area, another Liberal stronghold.
