The gallery at Queen’s Park was full of Quinte region real estate agents Thursday.
The occasion was a a second reading vote on Hastings Prince Edward MPP Todd Smith’s “Tax Fairness For Realtors Act.”
The Act did pass second reading, inching toward being finally approved by the legislature. The Act is supported by members from all three parties at Queen’s Park.
The Act would allow real estate agents to personally incorporate, leading to certain tax advantages.
Realtors are already able to incorporate in most other provinces. Other professions, such as lawyers, mortgage brokers, and financial advisors are able to incorporate.
