There was a shootout at the Essroc Arena last night where the Dukes built a 3-1 lead but unlike game one, they were able to hang on for a 3-2 win over the Cobourg Cougars. The result means the OJHL North-East Conference semi final series moves on to game 5.
Carter Allen, Rory Milne and Mitchell Martan did the Dukes scoring in a game that featured 101 shots including 59 by Cobourg. Wellington’s Connor Ryckman turned away 21 in the third period alone.
Wellington couldn’t hold on to a 3-1 lead in the opening game of the series and eventually lost 4-3 in overtime. Dukes Coach and General Manager Marty Abrams says they learned from that.
The Cougars still hold a 3-1 lead in the series. Game 5 is tomorrow night in Cobourg. CJBQ will have the call for Prinzen Ford Sales of Bloomfield beginning at 6:50.
If game 6 is necessary it will be played Sunday night at 7 in Wellington.
