A 46-year-old Belleville man is facing several charges stemming from a complaint of sexual assault against a young child.
On March 8, city police received a report of abuse and began an investigation with the assistance of the Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society which resulted in the suspect being identified.
As a result, the unnamed man has been arrested and charged with one count each of sexual assault, sexual interference, and sexual exploitation.
The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused was released from custody on an Officer-in-Charge Undertaking with strict conditions and a Promise-to-Appear in court in April.
