Quinte Health Care is being sued by a mother after her baby was dropped while a nurse was feeding him last month.
According to a National Post story, the nurse fell asleep while feeding the baby in the special-care nursery in BGH’s maternity department.
After testing at a Kingston hospital, the baby’s skull was found to have been fractured.
The mother, Kelsey Bond, says she didn’t receive a call from the hospital until 5 hours after the incident occurred.
The nurse involved has not been identified but has been described as experienced and qualified.
According to the report, the nurse remains at work. The baby’s condition is improving.
QHC officials have apologized to the family.
