Belleville City Hall is showing off a new entrance and elevator these days.
The front entrance at City Hall was closed to the public for months while a new elevator was installed at ground floor level and the entrance itself was refurbished.

Last fall city council decided to take these steps, lowering the elevator to the building’s entrance floor, to meet provincial standards for accessibility.
The project also included refurbishing the front service counter area, at a total cost of $633,000.
The elevator can now be accessed at ground level, and a second door at the back of the elevator allows exit to the service counter area, making that area completely accessible.
