Director of Recreation, Culture and Community Services Mark Fluhrer has issued a “clarification ” for statements, regarding Ball Construction and the Yardmen Arena project, made to the media during a scrum following the Monday city council meeting.
In November of last year the city hired Ball Construction to handle the construction management of the Yardmen Arena expansion and renovation, to ensure it is ready for the American Hockey League Belleville Senators’ game in November of this year.
In the news release, Fluhrer gives the following clarification:
Council approved the hiring of Ball Construction with payment terms that included $797,990 plus $103,738 HST and, additional funding of up to $125,000 plus HST – assuring that the project is brought in on time for the first home game in Belleville the first week of November 2017. The grand total will be less than $1,000,000 excluding our portion of HST – which is the figure we have an approved budget in which to pay Ball Construction.
