A local group’s had a chance to talk at Queen’s Park earlier this month, all in an effort to improve rural drinking water.
Last Thursday, the Citizens Against Melrose Quarry were in Toronto, to appear before the Justice Policy Committee, to talk about the modernization of the aggregate resources act.
Spokesperson Sue Munroe says their main message was mining below the water table.
Munroe says the group was well received and they believe the act will be adjusted to protect rural water users and their water supply.
She says 1.6 million Ontarians rely on rural drinking water supplies.
