Employees with the Canadian Hearing Society, including those in Belleville, have launched strike action at 24 offices across Ontario.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees says its members were left no choice but to hit the bricks this morning after management rejected all of the union’s proposals in weekend talks with a provincially appointed mediator.
The 227 unionized workers include counsellors, literacy instructors, audiologists, speech language pathologists and interpreters.
Their CUPE local says they’ve been without a contract since 2013. The Belleville office is in the Bayview Mall.
