A stellar 34 save performance by Belleville native Kevin Bailie has backstopped the Queen’s Golden Gaels to the U-Sports University Cup men’s hockey championshp for the first time in 36 years.
Queen’s defeated the McGill Redmen 4-2 to sweep the best of 3 series.
Bailie stopped 74 shots in the two games. Bailie was Belleville’s Athlete of the Year in 2014.
Queen’s will play York in the Ontario final this weekend although both teams advance to the national championship in Fredericton New Brunswick March 16th to the 19th.
