A newly-expanded winter event in Belleville’s downtown gets underway Friday evening and runs through Sunday.
This Saturday marks the 14th year for the annual Savour the Chill hot-soup contest in the city centre, run by the Belleville downtown Improvement Area.
This year the Chamber of Commerce, on behalf the city, has ramped that up with events on Empire Square, naming the event Savour the Chill and Stay Awhile.
Spokesperson Susan Walsh says there will be arts and crafts and games and more.

Walsh says the program will be expanded to Sunday as well.
