With the exception of homicide, the amount of violent crime in the City of Quinte West was generally down last year
from 2015.
There was one murder in Quinte West in 2016, none the year before.
However, sex assault, assault and robberies involving violence charges were all down.
Arson charges were down as well, to 4 from 8 in 2015.
Meanwhile, the number of minor theft charges were up last year from ’15.
Quinte West OPP dealt with 387 cases involving theft under $5,000 in 2016 compared to 301 the year before.
Detachment Commander Inspector Christina Reive told the Police Services Board that the number of thefts from vehicles increased
dramatically last year.
