Quinte Conservation has issued a water safety statement for this weekend and into next week, as temperatures are expected to rise significantly.
The environmental agency says those warmer temperatures are going to cause local ice conditions to degrade and stream flows to change, so you should take extra precautions around frozen lakes and streams.
Be cautious of stream banks as well, as they’ll become more slippery than usual.
And a warning to homeowners who live near waterways, that higher temperatures will cause melting and could lead to localized flooding in some areas as well.
Quinte Conservation says the warning will be in place until at least February 23rd.
