A new member of the Belleville Downtown Improvement Area Board says he has a positive outlook that the board is making a “new beginning” but thinks a police presence would help downtown.
New member, lawyer Ed Kafka, says he’s not interested in any past issues but is looking forward.
He says the idea is to dispel the myth that the downtown is a dangerous place because a lot of people have a negative impression.
Kafka says the BDIA plan for monthly events downtown is a good idea to help bring people down there but he would like to see a real police presence in the city centre.
