Madison Excavating – Major Atom
The Madison Excavating Major Atoms finished up their season with a commanding 6-0 win over the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs on Friday. This closed out the ETA regular season with the Devils in a strong first place finish in the East.
The final game of the season had the Devils on the snowy roads to Kingston Friday night. Quinte was first on the scoreboard as Thomas Kuipers found the back of the Fronts net on the set up from Liam Philip. It would be the only goal of the first period but Quinte added two more to make it a 3-0 game before the end of the second. Philip scored his own on the tape to tape pass from Carson Campbell. Landon Wright would score the third of the game assisted by Deacon Ellis. Throughout the third the defense worked hard to force Kingston out while the offense continued to drive to the net. Jared Langdon would make it 4-0 early in the third on the set up from Ellis and Ben Danford. Kirk Stevenson followed up with another, assisted by Beckett Ewart. Brody Partridge would score the final goal of the game, assisted by Danford to seal the 6-0 victory. Glen McInnes turned the Fronts away and recorded the shut out in net for the Devils.
On Deck: The Madison Excavating Major Atoms move onto first round of playoffs against the Oshawa Generals. Game one will be at home in Napanee on Saturday at 2:00pm, followed by game two in Oshawa on Sunday.
Foley Bus Lines – Peewee
With only two games left in the regular season, the Foley Bus Lines Peewees took to the road on Feb 8 to face the Oshawa Generals. In a surprising comeback, the Generals topped the Devils 4 to 3.
In first period action, each team skated to a scoreless frame where the Red Devils could not capitalize on two power plays. Isaac Brown found the Oshawa net with a short-handed goal on a feed from Rheydan McCoy. Just seconds later, Dalyn Wakely scored also, short-handed. Oshawa got on the board next to make it a 2 to 1 game; but Kendrick Webster would answer on a power play goal as he tipped a shot from Cooper Matthews. The Devils entered the third period with a 3 to 1 lead, but the Generals has more to say as they pulled within one scoring early in the third period. The Devils got into penalty trouble late in the third and the Generals scored on a two-man advantage to tie the game. With only 14 seconds on the clock, the Generals pulled their goalie and scored the game winner to steal the win by a score of 4 to 3. Andrew Munro was in goal for the Devils.

Bonn Law – Minor Peewee
The Bonn Law Quinte Red Devils Minor Peewee Team clinched first place in the ETA East with a win over the Peterborough Petes on Thursday. The Red Devils take on the Peterborough Petes in the first round of the OMHA playdowns, with game #1 being played in Marmora on Thursday February 16th at 7:30 pm. The Devils would like to thank all of their sponsors, family, friends and fans for their continued support and hope to see you all during our playoff run. Go Devils Go!
Rhino Sports – Minor Midget
The Minor Midget Red Devils will face the York Simcoe Express who finished first in the West ETA Division and were 27-6-1 in regular season while the Devils were 28-5-3 and the winner is off to the OMHA’s in March. The season series was tied with each team winning the game in their own barn but both of these games were played in September and early October.
The playoff series is structured in a way that doesn’t favour a slow start to the game or to the series as it is a best of five format. The defensive core of the Red Devils will be up against the top scorer in the league and he has the ability to change the game on his own. Our defensive core was extremely successful at slowing down the top player on the Kingston Jr Frontenacs in the prior series thus allowing a quick series end in favour of the Devils. In order to win the series the Red Devils will need to play the style of hockey that facilitates offensive opportunities within the defensive structure, win the one-on-one battles, win every shift, every period and our best players need to be at their best; all 17 of them.
The games are as follows in the York Simcoe Express Series:
Thursday Feb 16th @ 9pm in Aurora
Sunday Feb 19th @ 3pm in Madoc
Monday Feb 20th @ 7:30pm in Aurora
Saturday Feb 25th @ 2pm in Madoc (if necessary)
Sunday Feb 26th @ 6pm in Aurora (if necessary)
Monday Feb 27th @ 7pm in Madoc (if necessary)
KKP – Minor Atom
Needing just one point to secure a playoff spot, the KKP Minor Atom’s travelled to Clarington on Friday night only to see the hosts erase a 2-1 deficit to earn a 3-2 win over the Devils. Avery Wease and Ben Graham scored for Quinte.
On Sunday in Deseronto, the Devils played host to Peterborough holding a slim one point lead on the Petes for the final playoff spot in the East. Quinte would not be denied on this day as they got up early on goals by Carter Chadwick and Kaiden Harmon and held Peterborough at bay until power play goal got the Petes to within one. The KKP held the Petes to just 2 shots in the third period before Evan Erwin’s empty net goal sealed the victory.
