Belleville police and firefighters were involved in work of a different kind earlier this morning (Tuesday).
There were several reports about a cow running around on roadways in the Cannifton area.
Attempts were made to corral the animal, however, none were successful.
Concerned about the rampaging animal causing vehicle accidents, police officers shot the cow dead around 4 o’clock this morning along River Road.
Firefighters cleaned the scene up.
