There’s some good news on the unemployment front in the Quinte Region, at least where the numbers are concerned.
The unemployment rate has been trending down over the past year.
Figures presented to the Quinte Economic Development Commission recently indicate the rate for the eastern Ontario area, including Quinte, is 4.3% compared to 5.7% for all of Ontario.
CEO Chris King says this is a “significant drop from the previous year.

King says there were 20,000 full-time jobs developed in the broader region in 2016.
He says the Commission continues efforts to get the government to provide statistics that pertain exclusively to the Quinte region.
