Own it, rock it, share it.
The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation launched its annual Prom Project campaign Thursday at the Quinte Mall in Belleville.
Now in its 6th year, the initiative helps dress students with gently used formal wear for Grade 8 and 12 graduation and celebratory events. Sizes 2 to 24 are being requested. The community is encouraged to donate their gently used formal wear at the Quinte Mall Community Desk until the end of March.
Executive Director Maribeth deSnoo said each year they provide 800 to 1000 students that are facing socio-economic challenges in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties with dresses, tuxes and suits.
She explained there are a few changes to this year’s event. Prom project pick up events for students will be hosted at Quinte Secondary on April 6 from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and at North Hastings High School on April 27 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Maribeth deSnoo added that a gracious donation by the Kiwanis Club also helps students with cost of prom tickets through the Student Emergency Fund.
