Residents of an apartment house in downtown Belleville were sent scurrying into the night after the old building filled with
smoke at 2 o’clock this morning (Thursday).
Belleville firefighters, police, and ambulance responded to 145 Pinnacle Street, at Dundas.
The smoky fire was contained to just one of the several apartments in the building and was put out quickly.
A few residents were assessed for smoke inhalation but no one was seriously injured.
The cause is under investigation, but a resident who escaped the building believed it was a cooking incident.
