Some local parents say bullying is running amok at a local public elementary school.
On Wednesday morning outside Belleville City Hall, numerous parents gathered protesting what they call a lack of oversight for discipline and student safety at Prince Charles Public School.
One parent says her daughter has been assaulted numerous times.
Another parent tells us they are only hearing the stories from their kids, not from staff.
Some in attendance allege not just physical, but sexual abuse as well.
Meanwhile, the school board says complaints about “inappropriate behaviour and bullying”, which spurred the protests in Belleville on Wednesday, revolve around one isolated incident and problems are not widespread.
Board spokesperson Kerry Donnell tells Quinte News, the board and school staff are aware of what’s happening, but can’t say much because of confidentiality concerns.
Parents have told us Belleville Police have been notified, but a BPS spokesperson says the police force can’t comment on the case because minors are involved.
