Another shoe has dropped as a result of the pending move of the American Hockey League’s Binghamton Senators to Belleville.
The New Jersey Devils have announced they will move their top affiliate from Albany to fill the void in “Bingo” next season and will be called the Binghamton Devils.
At the time Ottawa announced their move to Belleville the Senators said they were committed to the fans of Binghamton to keep the AHL in that community. Binghamton has been home to Ottawa’s AHL team since 2002.
The New York State Capital District of Albany has been the home of the Devils’ AHL affiliate for the past seven years, playing at the outdated “Times Union Center”. Poor attendance and financial reasons were among the factors in the Devils’ move to Binghamton.
