It was a banner year for the 7th annual Feed-the-Meter campaign, in support of the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation.
Following cheque donations in Prince Edward County and Quinte West earlier this week, a cheque worth a little over $39,000 was presented to foundation representatives on Friday morning.
Along with $3,400 raised in sponsorship dollars and $425 raised in donations, the total amount from Belleville’s fundraising efforts reached almost $43,000.
That amount, coupled with the over $5,100 raised in Prince Edward County and over $20,400 in Quinte West, pushed the grand total across all three communities to $68,442.18.
Executive Director of the Learning Foundation Maribeth DeSnoo was “pleasantly surprised” at the total, which surpassed expectations.
DeSnoo tells Quinte News where the money will go to help the foundation.
Belleville Mayor Taso Christopher was on hand to present the cheque.
The next Feed-the-Meter Campaign for the Foundation will start again this October.
