It was a busy night for local Provincial Junior C hockey teams on Saturday.
The Picton Pirates romped over the still winless Campbellford Rebels 9-4, while the Napanee Raiders and Port Hope Panthers engaged in a intense 4-4 tie.
In Campbellford, Jordon Cannons fired home four goals for the Pirates, with Mitchell Thompson and Dawson Ellis picking up three points each. Will Harrison also added a pair of tallies and goaltender Brendan Macham turned aside 35 shots in the victory. Jeremiah Doherty’s three points (two goals, one assist) paced the attack for the Rebels in a losing cause, with Austin Vallier and Brady Cross also scoring. Brandon Soucy and Adam McCormack split the net in the loss.
Meanwhile, it was a much closer battle in Port Hope. Napanee had to crawl back from 3-1 down in the third period to even the score with the Panthers. Justynn Steven, Cullen Hinds, Curtis Marrison and Tim Morton all scored for the Raiders, while Austin Boulard notched 2 assists. Jeremy Wasson posted up a solid performance between the pipes with 37 saves.
In Junior C action today, the Rebels are back in action on the road against the Amherstview Jets. Puck drop is slated for 7:30.
In the OJHL, the Wellington Dukes are back on home ice following a 6-3 loss Friday to rival Trenton in the Battle of Quinte. They will take on the visiting Lindsay Muskies at 2 p.m. CJBQ will have the broadcast for Prinzen Ford Sales of Bloomfield starting at 1:50 with David Foot.
