Loyalist College honoured 25 varsity athletes for academic and sports excellence yesterday at their scholarship luncheon.
Athletic Director Jim Buck said the bar has been raised again with the quality of student athletes attending Loyalist this year. They have a combined average of 80% and 12 of the 25 are on the Dean’s List.
A trio of Belleville products were honoured in women’s rugby. They are Brooke Babcock, Hunter Clement and Meghan Weinhold. Drake Bartholomew and Devon Fobert of Belleville and Napanee’s Brennan Spencer were cited for men’s rugby.
Other local players honoured yesterday include Ashley MacDonald of Napanee in women’s soccer…Emilie Leneveu of Trenton for women’s volleyball and Carter Maschi of Belleville in men’s basketball.
