Serious crime continues to trend downward in the Township of Stirling-Rawdon.
Stirling-Rawdon Police Chief Dario Cecchin says there were just 26 incidents of violent crime like assaults, harassment and threats last year. The average for such crimes in the 4 years previous was 39 incidents.
Meanwhile the number of property crimes also decreased from the norm last year.
In 2016 there were 74 incidents of crimes such as break and enter, theft and fraud.
In the 4 years previous, the average was 83 a year.
Meanwhile, the total number of incidents dealt with by Stirling-Rawdon police last year was 1,719, about the same as the past few years.
