A Quinte Red Devils graduate proved to be too much for the Wellington Dukes.
Josh Maguire scored twice including an empty netter to power the Cobourg Cougars past Wellington 4-1. The Dukes had 15 shots in the second period but couldn’t convert. Forward Brody Morris says that played a part in the outcome.
Assistant coach Kyle Hawkins-Schultz agreed.
Brayden Stortz scored Wellington’s lone goal.
The Dukes are home to the Trenton Golden Hawks Friday night.
