It may be mid-winter, but plans are already underway to help Belleville celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.
Chair of the Canada Day committee, Dwayne Barratt, has told Quinte News it will be a three-day event culminating in a Saturday, July 1, Canada Day celebration.
Barratt says July 1 will feature a Lumber Jack show.
The 150th celebration will open with a free outdoor movie night on Thursday and a Canadian rock band playing on Friday night.
Earlier this month, city council referred the Canada Day committee’s funding application back to the city’s grant committee for further consideration.
The city has $50,000 in reserve specifically designated for the 150th celebration.
