The Hastings Prince Edward Learning Foundation is benefiting from a generous donation by a pair of insurance companies.
Whitley Insurance and Gore Mutual have handed over a combined $15,000, to be split between the foundation’s Food for Learning Program and Student Emergency Fund.
Foundation Chair Geoff Cudmore tells Quinte News, Paul Whitley had already been working with the foundation on its strategic plan and wanted to make more of a difference.
$10,000 will go towards Food for Learning and $5,000 will be put into the Student Emergency Fund.
Paul Whitley tells Quinte News it was important to support the learning foundation and its many programs, especially the two he’s chosen.
As Cudmore mentioned, last year, the Food for Learning program prepared more than one million meals for students in the Hastings and Prince Edward School Board.
Meanwhile, the Student Emergency Fund can be used to handle any immediate student need, like food, clothing, or transportation.
