Local programs that strive to help students and their families are getting a big boost this week.
At a cheque presentation on Thursday, members from Gore Mutual and Whitley Insurance are expected to give a total of $15,000 to the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation to support the Food for Learning and Student Emergency funds.
The Food for Learning program aims to enhance classroom learning by supporting school nutrition programs by ensuring students are well-nourished and ready to learn.
The Student Emergency Fund provides immediate assistance to students and their families by providing financial aid and/or gift in kind support.
