It was like a demolition derby on the 401 westbound in our region yesterday afternoon.
Snow squalls reduced visibility to zero for a while late in the morning around Bowmanville and OPP report about 100 vehicles were involved in chain reaction collisions on 401 westbound.
Among the vehicles was a jack-knifed tractor trailer. Another transport ended up on its side.
The 401 westbound was closed around Bowmanville for several hours.
Meanwhile, around 4 yesterday afternoon, blowing snow caused several accidents around Colborne, and the 401 westbound had to be closed down from Brighton to Cobourg until early last evening.
Northumberland News reports several people, including an OPP officer, were treated for non life threatening injuries in those accidents.
Traffic is moving normally this morning.
