No charges will be laid following an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on North Front Street in Belleville during the early morning hours on New Year’s Day.
According to city police, the pedestrian, a 26-year-old man from Corbyville sustained injuries including a broken shoulder, but was released from Kingston General Hospital at noon on January 1.
An investigation determined the pedestrian had been drinking, ran eastbound across the street where he was struck by a north bound car.
It was determined the driver, a 36-year-old man from Toronto had not been drinking.
Officers spoke with several witnesses and it was determined that the driver’s actions were not factors in the crash and as a result, the Traffic Services Unit has determined that no charges will be laid in relation to this incident.
