A search and rescue mission has now been suspended after maximum efforts were unable to locate a missing plane.
A CC-130 Hercules from CFB Trenton assisted the US Coast Guard with a search for the plane, carrying six people on Friday.
The 424 squadron aircraft was part of a team searching for the small Cessna Citation 525, which went missing overnight near Lake Erie, with three adults and three children aboard.
The search spanned over 20 hours and covered 128 square miles of Lake Erie.
