A blast of winter weather made for some tricky and slow driving conditions on Highway 401 and local roadways Thursday.
Northumberland County OPP continue to ask motorists to slow down and drive to the conditions after they responded to a flurry of collisions Thursday morning.
One collision involved a tour bus carrying 16 people on the eastbound 401 just west of County Road 26 in Brighton. No one was injured.
There were numerous other crashes along the 401 east of Belleville including one near Marysville Road.
Belleville police also responded to a few minor collisions Thursday morning. One involved two vehicles on Highway 62 at Vermilyea and Farnham Roads. It has since cleared and that roadway is now open.
Northumberland OPP Constable Steve Bates says when you’re traveling along the highway motorists have to take the road and weather conditions into account. He advises motorists to drive accordingly.
Officials from CFB Trenton’s weather office say by 12 p.m. the Quinte area received five centimetres of snow.
Staff Meteorologist Josh Nichols is calling for four to eight centimetres.
