The City of Belleville has updated the construction process over at the Yardmen Arena, which is expected to be completed close to this time next year.
Ball Construction, who are managing the project, spent the end of November putting out tenders for various jobs and are currently overseeing the disconnection of power and plumbing, interior demolition work and preparations for all of the new construction to be done on-site.
Meanwhile, design firm Architecture 49 says construction documents are about 70% complete and more plans will be finished soon, including the seating chart, scoreboard selection and interior finish materials, among others.
The building’s prime tenant, the AHL Belleville Senators, say 2,000 season ticket packages have already been sold and the team is currently designing a new logo, which will be unveiled “the moment it’s ready”.
The City of Belleville has budgeted $20.5 million for the project, which includes $16 million for construction, $2.5 million for design and an extra $2 million in contingency funds.
