An annual campaign that raises funds to support those dealing with the loss of a loved one wrapped up Sunday.
Hospice Quinte’s annual Memorial Trees fundraiser at the Quinte Mall raised $3,675, roughly $1,200 shy of last year’s total.
Hospice Quinte is a volunteer based organization with over 140 active volunteers supporting people and families in the Quinte Region facing life limiting illnesses, terminal illnesses, and those at end of life. Hospice Quinte offers in-home visiting volunteer support and a wide range of free programming including: children’s grief and bereavement programs, caregiver support programs and a day program for members living with a life limiting illness.
The campaign raises funds for Hospice programs welcoming friends and family members to donate and place a dove on Christmas trees at the Quinte Mall in memory of a loved one.
Community Relations Fund Development Coordinator Maria Menjivar said 257 doves were placed on the trees, adding for many it has become an annual tradition.
She added over the course of two weeks they saw many people of all ages come out to honour loved ones.
Donations will still be graciously accepted and can be made by calling (613) 966-6610 or www.hospice-quinte.ca.
