An air force sergeant based at 8-Wing CFB Trenton has been sentenced to six years in a penitentiary on child pornography convictions.
Thursday, Justice Elaine Deluzio sentenced 57-year-old David Rodwell after he was found guilty of possession of child pornography, making child pornography and arranging to commit a sexual offence against a child earlier this year.
The investigation began in the United States where through an online chat with a Homeland Security Agent posing as a mother, Rodwell expressed an interest in having sex with her three-year-old daughter.
The information led investigators to the base where a search turned up videos and images depicting child sex abuse along with more than 4,000 pages of chat logs where Rodwell engaged in conversations with women who said they were mothers of young children.
Crown Lee Burgess told Quinte News they were the most vile and awfully unforgettable videos of child pornography he has ever seen. Burgess said that during the trial Rodwell claimed to have never viewed the videos but evidence proved otherwise.
Crown Lee Burgess said overall he is satisfied with Deluzio’s decision.
In addition, Rodwell was added to the sex offender registry for life and was given a lifetime ban from attending public places where children frequent.
