The United Way of Hastings and Prince Edward is “struggling” to reach its goal for 2016.
The United Way serves more than 40 agencies in two counties and two cities.
It had set its goal at $2.1 million by the end of the year.
Executive director Judi Gilbert says they’re “struggling this year.”
Gilbert says any amount that is collected is cause for celebration to support the agencies and 75 programs they help throughout Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.

A special committee will review all the applications in January and the money will begin to flow by February.
