It may have been the shortest Quinte West council meeting ever.
Late Monday afternoon, in less than 15 minutes, council approved the purchase of a demonstrator
Pierce pumper fire truck for fire hall 4, at Tucker’s Corners.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen says the pumper has what the department needs, including the ability to apply foam suppressant, and it should be ready to use sometime in February.
If the city had bought new, it would have taken a year to have the truck on site.
The purchase price was just under $370,000.
