The National Air Force Museum of Canada in Trenton is getting a new aircraft which helped our military members in Afghanistan.
The museum is welcoming one of the two final D-model Chinook Helicopters, which were purchased from the United States in 2009.
They were flown in Afghanistan as part of Canada’s Air Wing Kandahar mission.
The chopper arrived at 8-Wing about a month ago and was disassembled.
It will be repainted and set up for display in the museum.
Four were purchased from the Americans, one is going to Petawawa, two others are damaged beyond repair, while the final will call Trenton home.
