Kingston Police has arrested a 53-year-old local man in connection with a hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
Around 7:20 p.m, emergency services were called to Princess Street at Midland Avenue, near the Cataraqui Town Centre, where a 41 year old local woman was hit by an eastbound SUV. She later died in hospital.
Investigators were able to narrow down the suspect vehicle to a silver or grey older model Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon or Cadillac Escalade based on video surveillance.
On Saturday afternoon around 1:15 p.m., detectives received information about a specific sports utility vehicle.
The vehicle was located in the city of Kingston and the 53-year-old owner of the vehicle was arrested at the same address and brought into custody.
The accused man will have a bail hearing today. He is facing one charge of failing to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death.
