This year’s CFB Trenton Pond Hockey Classic is getting a taste of the NHL and the AHL.
Tuesday morning at the Batawa Community Centre, officials held their media launch and announced Belleville and Ottawa Senators Owner Eugene Melnyk as the guest speaker for their gala dinner on Friday February 3rd.
Scotiabank and Scotia McLeod are this year’s sponsors of the weekend which starts on the Friday night, followed by the pond hockey tournament on the Saturday and Sunday.

David MacDonald is with Wounder Warriors and says it is not just the person with PTSD that suffers.
So far, $140,000 has been raised to support the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and Wounded Warriors Canada. Jeffrey Moorehouse is the tournament organizer and says $140,000 is staggering.
Roger Lajoie with the Belleville and Ottawa Senators says Melnyk has a connection to the military.
Phil Wild is Chair of the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation says the base has been a great supporter.
Base Commander Colonel Colin Keiver says the relationship between the base and the community is wonderful.
The tournament itself will be 4 on 4 style and the goal is to bring in 32 teams, who can play on the five ice pads, which have now been redone to format official pond hockey rules.
