On Saturday November 26th, 2016 at 9:30 p.m. officers from the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from the public of a black sports car traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 401 westbound near Marysville Road.
Police conducted radar patrol on Highway 401 near Belleville and observed a black Porsche travelling at a high rate of speed. The officers locked the vehicle speed at 215 km/hr in a posted 100 km/hr zone.
Officers were safely able to stop the vehicle that contained 5 occupants. The driver was an 18 year old male from Toronto, Ontario. Driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Race a Motor Vehicle- excessive speed. His vehicle and driver’s licence was seized for 7 days.
He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Napanee on January 5th, 2017.
