Great news for residents and visitors to Prince Edward County.
Communications and Media Coordinator Lisa McLennan says officials are gearing up to reopen Picton Main Street Friday afternoon after months of upgrades to mainline sanitary and watermains.
This marks the near completion of the $4.4 million construction project. There is still some sidewalk work that needs to be completed in the spring, along with other aspects that were difficult for crews to finish due to the weather.
To celebrate, the County and the Picton Business Improvement Association will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony shortly before the Picton Santa Claus Parade on Sunday. It’s happening at Bridge and Main Streets at 12 p.m.
There will be remarks from Mayor Robert Quaiff and BIA Chair Robyn Lewis.
