Officials with Veridian Connections say a brief power outage early this afternoon was caused by an equipment malfunction.
Spokesman Chris Mace says a switch malfunctioned in the west end, knocking out power to about 1,600 customers in an area from Bridge Street West, down to Dundas Street and from Avondale Road, across to Highland Drive.
At last check, crews had been dispatched to the scene and power was expected back by 1:45, according to the Veridian outage map.
There are traffic lights out in the affected area as well, so drivers are reminded to treat any malfunctioning intersections as four-way stops.
