The Belleville Police service responded to 49 calls for service between 5 a.m. on the 22nd of November 2016 and 5 a.m. on the 23rd of November 2016.
Fraud- Belleville Ontario
On the 22nd of November 2016 at approximately 7:15 p.m., Belleville Police investigated a rental fraud. The investigation revealed that the complainant had responded to an advertisement for a rental property in Belleville listed on a popular classified website. Numerous photos of a property were shown with a rental agreement also being supplied. The complainant became suspicious when asked for an internet money transfer. Police contacted the property owners where it was learned the advertisement was fraudulent. Police are reminding persons to verify the listings are real by dealing in person and not to forward money without verifying the actual property.
