Prince Edward County council will see a slight increase in salaries in the new year.
In a recorded vote of 10-3 Tuesday night, council voted in favour of a 1.4% jump in pay.
Mayor Robert Quaiff voted in favour of the increase that works out to about $200.
He added the increases are necessary given the travel time and wear and tear on council’s vehicles.
With the increase, the mayor will receive $38,539, councillors $19,269, committee chair $1,606 and committee meeting and chair honorarium $130.
Councillors Jim Dunlop, Lenny Epstein, Steve Ferguson, Gordon Fox, Kevin Gale, Steve Graham, Dianne O’Brien, Bill Roberts, Barry Turpin and mayor Robert Quaiff voted in favour. Councillor Dave Harrison, Janice Maynard and Brad Nieman were opposed to the raise.
