The Our TMH citizens’ group says it’s proud of the work that’s been done over the past year.
The group held its first ever annual general meeting in Quinte West Wednesday night, to go over its accomplishments for the year and to set the stage for the future..
Chair Mike Cowan, who was acclaimed for another term, says the biggest accomplishment for the group this year, was keeping surgical procedures and medical equipment from moving to Belleville.
And, despite being just barely a year old, Our TMH is growing rapidly.
After starting with a membership goal of 5,000 people, it was announced last night that membership is already up to around 7,000 people now.
Cowan tells Quinte News, they have lofty goals to recruit more members in the coming year as well.
Moving forward, the group says they plan to stay the course and will continue to protect and enhance Trenton Memorial Hospital through 2017 and beyond.
Cowan says goals for this upcoming year include fostering more cooperation with the executives at Quinte Health Care.
While things have been improving at THM recently, the group says it would still push for a separation from Quinte Health Care if things get bad again.
The group is also encouraging you to ask your doctor to recommend you have any X-Ray, surgery, or other procedure done at TMH, instead of in Belleville.
