Fast response by Tweed firefighters kept a garage fire from being much worse late this morning (Sunday).
A garage on Hollister Road, running north off Sulphide Road, was destroyed by fire, but a couple of small barns and one large one were nearby.
Firefighters kept damage to a small barn minimal and put out a grass fire that spread to a fence line as well.
The large barn was not touched.
The shed contained a lot of tools and damage is estimated at $30,000. The cause remains under
investigation.
Meanwhile, this afternoon (Sunday) around 2 o’clock, the Tweed Fire Department was called out to another shed fire on Queensborough Road. The shed was used to store wood and the fire was put out quickly.
No one was injured in either incident.
